Information for Y2 Parents

August 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

In order to make transition to Glebe in September easier, we are offering each new Year 3 class the opportunity to attend a ‘meet the teacher’ drop-in on Friday 4th September which is one of our inset days.  This will provide an opportunity for your child to meet their new teacher and see their classroom.  You will be met at the gate by the class teacher and they will escort your children to the classroom.  Parents should then make their way to the quiet area by the library to wait until the children return to you.  Mr Watson (Headteacher), Mrs Whelpton (SENCO) and I will be available to chat to you and answer any queries you may have.  Each class will be allowed 30 minutes with their teacher and then we request that you leave the school site promptly to allow time for the site to be clear before the next class arrive.  There will be no other children in school on this day.

Please respect the time allocated to your child’s class and social distancing during your visit.

So, on Friday 4th September, if you wish to visit and allow your child to meet their new teacher, please arrive at the time detailed below:

Elephants Class (Miss Marriott) 1-1.30pm

Giraffes Class (Miss Hartwell) 2-2.30pm

Lions Class (Mrs Finlayson and Mrs Spender) 3-3.30pm

Due to the current circumstances, parents are not able to bring children onto or collect children from the yard therefore, on Monday 7th September when the whole school returns, we are going to stagger arrival at school for the Year 3 children.  This will enable the teachers and TAs to collect the children from the main gate and walk them down the zig zag path to their classes.  Please ensure that you bring your child to the main gate at the times detailed below:

Elephants Class 9.00am

Giraffes Class 9.15am

Lions Class 9.30am

From Tuesday 8th September, arrival at school will be between 8.30am and 9.00am and the children will need to be dropped off at the gate and walk down the zig zag path to their classroom.  If possible, please aim to drop your child off between 8.45am and 9.00am.   Staff will be on duty at the gates and across the yard to assist the children.

Children should not bring a bag to school – all equipment will be provided however, they are free to bring a pencil case with felt pens and colouring pencils should they wish.  Sharing of equipment will be limited. Coats will be stored on the back of their chair with PE bags, lunch boxes and water bottles at their desks.

We request that you ensure your child has washed their hands before arriving at school and we will ensure that they sanitise their hands on entering the classroom and throughout the day.

At the end of the day, the children will be brought to the gate by their teacher for you to collect them at 3.30pm.

Further information will be provided prior to our return.  We look forward to welcoming you to Glebe.

Yours faithfully
