On Thursday, Year 6 Boys Cricket team went to Glapwell Cricket Club to represent Glebe in the Bolsover District Tournament. After four closely fought matches we came away with our faces glowing from the sun and pride in tact!

Our captain, Jenson Homiak lead the team brilliantly with some superb bowling and a hatful of fours and sixes. Charlie Cook had Catch of the Day with a one handed take on the edge of the boundary. Overall, I was really proud of all the boys with the way they conducted themselves and worked as a team.

Throughout the matches there was improvement and encouragement for each other from all eight players. Great sportsmanship, manners and a pleasure to take to a competition. Well done boys! Mrs Watson.

Young Leaders

On Tuesday, four of our Young Leaders assisted at the Pinxton Village Infant Schools Fun Run. They were an excellent support to all the Year 2 children and encouraged them when running and taking part in the race. At the end they presented the top three boy and girl with medals. Mrs Watson. Well done to Grace Copley, Darcey Homiak, Jake Dodd and Luca Gibbs– excellent role models.

Derbyshire Champs

Last weekend, three of our girls represented Bolsover in the Yorkshire English Schools regional tournament. After a closely fought final and a penalty shoot-out, they came out the winners and will now gone on to represent Derbyshire in the National under 11 finals in June which will be held at Liverpool Training Academy. Exciting Times! Well done to Mia Sands, Amber King and Delilah Renshaw. Mrs Watson

Year 4 Tennis Tournament

Year 4 Tennis Tournament

Yesterday, four budding tennis players went to Chesterfield Lawn Tennis Club to compete in against three other schools in a mini-tennis tournament. The air was silent with concentration from all of the players trying to make sure their serve was successful! The team representing Glebe was made up by Joseph Hoy, Rio Leishman, Evie Smith and Holly Cooper. These four played with care, determination and energy throughout the four games we played. At the end of it all, we came joint first with Pilsley - each scoring nine points in total! When the judges looked at individual scores within the group, the other school just beat us by a couple of marks leaving us in a very close second place. I am so proud of the team having had only two practice sessions. Keep on playing! Miss Cooper

On Tuesday afternoon The Glebe took a team of year 6 to a handball competition at Shirebrook Academy. There were four teams from the local area and we managed to come first. The team showed great teamwork, resilience and skill, drawing their first match 5-5, winning the second match 12-5 and winning the playoff for 1st place 7-6. The children were wonderful and a credit to The Glebe. Well done Mia Sands, Jenson Homiak, George Thornhill, Nyle Jennings, Bracken Copley, Amber King, Charlie Cooke and Ashleigh Wood.
