We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 8th March.  The arrangements for the wider opening of school are the same as the latter part of the Autumn Term detailed below.

The extended arrival period will continue from 08.30-09.00am and where possible, we would like Y5/6 children to arrive between 8.30-8.45am and Y3/4 to arrive between 08.45-09.00am All children will be dropped off at the school gate as parents will not be allowed on site to either drop off or collect at the end of the day.  All children should make their way to their classrooms via the zig zag path.

At the end of the day, Y5/6 will be dismissed at 3.15pm. Elvaston and Longford at 3.20pm, Giraffes and Grindleford at 3.25pm, Elephants and Lions at will be dismissed at 3.30pm.  Class teachers will bring their children to the gate for collection unless they are walking home.  We respectfully request your cooperation in wearing masks and adhering to social distancing whilst waiting for your child outside of school at the end of the day.

Children should not bring a bag (other than their PE bag) to school – all equipment will be provided however, they are free to bring a pencil case with felt pens and colouring pencils should they wish – these will remain in school until the end of term.  Sharing of equipment will be limited. Coats will be stored on the back of their chair with PE bags, lunch boxes and water bottles at their desks.   Please ensure your child has a healthy snack for morning break; there will also be the opportunity to purchase from their year group’s healthy tuck shop.  If you have any school library books at home, please return them to school next week where they will be quarantined before being returned to the library.

Desks have been arranged so that they are forward facing with two children to a desk.  There will be a 2m distance between the teacher’s desk and the children’s desks.

Please ensure that your child wears the correct uniform.  They should also bring a PE Kit to be kept in school.  We are aiming to utilise the outside space as much as possible for PE so please ensure your child has a tracksuit within their PE bag for when the weather is cold.

We request that you ensure your child has washed their hands before arriving at school and we will ensure that they sanitise their hands on entering the classroom and throughout the day.  Toilets will be allocated to bubbles to avoid cross bubble interaction.

Although staff are being tested twice a week there is no requirement for children of this age to be tested.  The wearing of face masks is not required for pupils of this age.  Hand sanitiser is available at school, however if you would like your child to bring their own that will be fine.  Additional hand sanitiser dispensers have been installed across the school.

We appreciate that the return to school might be an anxious time for your family and would like to reassure you that we have taken all possible precautions to ensure the safety of all school stakeholders in line with the advice from both the Government and the Local Authority – a copy of the risk assessment will be available to view on our school website prior to our return.

We would be most grateful if you could discuss these changes with your child/children prior to returning to school as it will be a very different experience for them.

Hot dinners are available, please order in the usual way via ‘School Money’.  Children having sandwiches will continue to eat their lunch in their classroom.

We hope that this clarifies any queries you may have.  Please contact the school via email or telephone should you require any further information.
