Ofsted Visit

Dear parents and carers,

We would like to thank you for your support during the recent Ofsted inspection on 11th and 12th May 2016. Please find enclosed the recently released report.

We are proud to say that after a rigorous two days of observations, discussions, book scrutinies, data reviews and interviews, Ofsted have found us to be GOOD overall and GOOD in all categories. We are delighted by their recognition of the high quality of education at Glebe and we are particularly gratified by their wonderful comments about our children.

Ofsted stated ‘Pupils are articulate and confident’ and their behaviour in and around the school is sensible and polite.’ They also found ‘Relationships in the classroom are highly cooperative and conducive for good learning.’

We are pleased they recognised that ‘Teachers know and understand the needs of pupils they teach,’ and ‘Pupils’ reading skills are accelerated quickly in the school because reading is promoted well.’ They also recognised the additional focus on the most able pupils, and that ‘these pupils are ‘fast tracked’ in the class so that they can tackle more difficult aspects of the work more quickly.’

Ofsted also recognised the high achievement across school stating ‘The proportion of pupils reaching or exceeding age-related expectations is high in writing, mathematics and reading across all year groups.’

Walt Greensmith, Chair of Governors, and I would like to thank the staff and governing body for their hard work over the last few years and their commitment to providing a good education for the children of South Normanton. We would also like to thank the children and parents for their hard work and support, and we assure you we will continue to drive forward for further improvement for all.

Please take the time to read the report through and celebrate with us.

Yours sincerely

Jan Seymour

Headteacher

January 2017:

The Governors and headteacher have been advised by the Regional Schools Council that we have met their definition for a “Coasting School”.

We are above the national ‘floor standard’ for 2016 and we are a good school as defined by Ofsted in May 2016.
